A Mid-City resident faced a harrowing ordeal on Tuesday night, July 16, when intruders smashed their way into her home, forcing her to take drastic measures to save her life.

The incident occurred around 10:30 PM at a residence along Crescent Heights Boulevard, near the intersection of Sawyer Street and La Cienega Boulevard. The woman, who had been waiting for her husband, instead encountered two burglars upon opening her door. Startled, she immediately recognized the threat.

With her heart racing, she quickly assessed her options. The situation escalated when she noticed another intruder on the sidewalk and a fourth suspect inside a getaway vehicle. Her instincts kicked in, and she ran towards a window, jumping out in a desperate bid to escape. She then sought refuge at a neighbor's home, where she contacted authorities.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) swiftly responded, setting up a massive search operation for the suspects, who remain at large. Paramedics checked on the woman to ensure she hadn't sustained any serious injuries from her jump. Although physically unharmed, she was understandably shaken by the traumatic event.

Investigators have reported that the burglars managed to steal some of her jewelry. The incident has left the community on edge, with neighbors expressing heightened concerns about the increasing brazenness of such crimes.

The LAPD continues to canvass the area, going door-to-door in search of surveillance footage or any other evidence that might lead to the capture of the intruders. This break-in is part of a disturbing trend, with another home in Encino being burglarized twice in one week. The first incident there involved three people, including two young children.
