Long Beach on Edge: A Night of Violence Leaves Four Stabbed in Nine Hours

Map of Long Beach area showing where stabbings occurred.

Long Beach residents were left on edge after a violent spree over the weekend saw four separate stabbings within a span of just nine hours. The series of attacks began on Saturday evening and continued into the early hours of Sunday morning, sending shockwaves through the city and leading local law enforcement to ramp up their presence.

According to police reports, the first incident occurred around 6:20 p.m. Saturday on the 2000 block of East Pacific Coast Highway. What started as an argument quickly escalated into a fight, and a male victim was stabbed multiple times in the upper body. While the attackers fled the scene before police could arrive, the victim was rushed to the hospital and is expected to survive.

The violence continued hours later, when at 2 a.m., officers were called to the 5100 block of Second Street in the Belmont Shore area. Two men had gotten into a physical altercation that culminated in one of the men being stabbed. The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, and authorities are still searching for the suspect.

Not long after, at 2:20 a.m., police responded to a local hospital where two women had arrived with stab wounds. Preliminary investigations revealed that the women had been involved in a fight with another woman on Pine Avenue downtown. Both victims were stabbed in the upper body, but their injuries are reported as non-life-threatening.

The final stabbing occurred at 3 a.m. back on Second Street, though police do not believe this attack was related to the earlier one at the same location. The victim, who was in a dispute with a group of women, was punched by one suspect before being stabbed by another. The injured individual managed to transport themselves to the hospital, where they are in stable condition.

In response to the wave of violence, the Long Beach Police Department announced an increased police presence throughout the city, including additional patrol officers and members of the Neighborhood Safety Bike Team. Authorities are urging anyone with information about the attacks to come forward and help them in their investigations.

While these stabbings appear to be isolated incidents, the surge of violence has understandably shaken the community. Residents and business owners are being asked to remain vigilant as the investigation unfolds, and the Long Beach Police Department continues its efforts to maintain safety and order in the city.

This story serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of life, especially in times of crisis, as local officials work to ensure the well-being of the community.
